Congresswoman Jen Kiggans, representing Virginia’s 2nd district, recently shared a series of tweets reflecting her support and concern for military matters. Kiggans, who succeeded Elaine Luria in Congress in 2023, is an advocate for both current military personnel and military families.
On April 16, 2025, Kiggans expressed her support for the Navy by tweeting, "GO NAVY! ️".
Later that day, Kiggans acknowledged the resilience of military families by honoring the Month of the Military Child. She wrote, "April is the Month of the Military Child – a time to honor the strength and sacrifice of the young members of our military families. As a military child myself and mom to 4 military kids, I know firsthand how much our children give every day and it’s nothing short of amazing!", attributing firsthand understanding of their experiences.
On April 17, 2025, Kiggans addressed concerns regarding national security and shipbuilding. She noted, "Shipbuilding is vital to our national security, but we’re currently decommissioning ships faster than we’re building them. Last week, I asked Adm. Paparo from @INDOPACOM about the importance of investing in our shipyards, keeping our ships operational, & strengthening our fleet."
Jen Kiggans was born in Tampa, Florida in 1971. She graduated from Old Dominion University in 2011 with a BSN and currently resides in Virginia Beach. Prior to her congressional service, she was a member of the Virginia Senate from 2020 to 2022.
