Norfolk Animal Care Center (NACC) is launching a special adoption event in collaboration with Friends of Norfolk Animal Care Center. The initiative, named the SLAM DUNK Adoption Special, aims to encourage local residents to adopt dogs by offering reduced fees.
The adoption event runs from March 20 to April 2. During this period, the fee for adopting puppies and adult dogs is reduced to $35. Additionally, there are no fees for those interested in adopting senior dogs.
NACC is currently at full capacity and has many animals ready for adoption. The shelter's visiting hours are from 1:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., every day except Wednesdays. Those interested can visit the shelter located at 5585 Sabre Rd., or view available dogs on their website at www.norfolk.gov/NACC. Social media updates can be followed @norfolkanimals.
For individuals unable to adopt at this time, NACC encourages participation through fostering or volunteering. Fostering provides temporary homes for animals, while volunteering offers other ways to support the shelter's operations. More information on these opportunities can be obtained by emailing NACC@norfolk.gov.
The center also assists with reuniting lost pets with their owners, as many of its animals come from the community. Residents are encouraged to check social media lost and found pages as part of these efforts.
