Spring marks the return of a significant event for Norfolk residents eager to declutter and responsibly dispose of various household items. The "Norfolk Recycles Day" Special Waste Collection Event, organized by Keep Norfolk Beautiful, is scheduled for Saturday, April 5, from 9 a.m. to noon at Azalea Baptist Church located at 3314 E. Little Creek Rd.
This event allows locals to dispose of hazardous waste, electronics, plastics, and other items free of charge. Items accepted include paint, batteries, pesticides, cooking oils, automotive oils, and propane tanks. Residents are advised that proof of residency may be required upon arrival. Additionally, secure on-site shredding services will be available for personal documents.
Azalea Baptist Church has generously agreed to host the event. Services will be provided in collaboration with SPSA Norfolk, Goodwill Hampton Roads, Shred-It, and City of Norfolk Waste Management. Volunteers from Keep Norfolk Beautiful, Norfolk CERT, and Camellia Shores Civic League will assist on site.
For further details about the items accepted during the event or to stay informed about future cleanups and recycling initiatives, residents can visit www.norfolk.gov/knb or follow Keep Norfolk Beautiful on Facebook and Instagram (@keepnorfolkbeautiful).
