Lambert’s Point Golf Course to Close Permanently
After nearly two decades of golf on the Elizabeth River waterfront, Lambert’s Point Golf Course (LPGC) will close permanently at the end of the year.
Hampton Roads Sanitation District (HRSD) recently purchased the 35-acre property from the City of Norfolk for $30 million to establish its Sustainable Water Initiative for Tomorrow (SWIFT) project that is designed to enhance the groundwater supply and help address environmental concerns such as sea level rise.
The City’s lease and service agreement with Golf Management, Inc. (GMI) ends on Dec. 31, 2022. HRSD will take possession of the property on Jan. 1, 2023.
Golfers can still hit the links at Ocean View Golf Course (9610 Norfolk Avenue, Norfolk, VA 23503), an 18-hole, City-owned course also managed by GMI. Sewell’s Point Golf Course (660 Ruthven Road, Norfolk, VA 23505) is also open to the public.
