Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) will halt its services earlier than usual on Wednesday night due to anticipated icy conditions. All transportation modes, including bus, light rail, ferry, paratransit, and OnDemand ridesharing services, as well as the Base Express serving Naval Station Norfolk, are scheduled to cease operations at approximately 8 p.m.

For The Tide light rail service, the last full eastbound trip is set to leave EVMC/Ft. Norfolk Station at 8:11 p.m., concluding service at Newtown Road. The final westbound journey will depart from Newtown Station at 8:05 p.m., terminating at EVMC.

The Elizabeth River Ferry's final departures are planned from High Street at 7:30 p.m., North Landing at 7:35 p.m., and Waterside at 7:45 p.m. Both paratransit and OnDemand ridesharing services will be suspended by 8 p.m.

Details on the last scheduled runs for all bus routes can be accessed online at HRT's website.

On Thursday, January 23rd, all services are expected to resume from 8 a.m. Buses may not start from their regular points but will begin from the stop closest to where they would typically be around that time. Updated information can be found on HRT's website or by calling their customer service number.

Several bus routes will not operate their morning work trips on Thursday. These include Routes 112 with early trips departing Riverside Medical and J Clyde & Harpersville; Routes 403, 405, 414, 415, 430; Routes 921 and 961 with trips leaving Downtown Norfolk Transit Center; and Routes 964 through 980.

The Elizabeth River Ferry will commence operations from High Street in Portsmouth at 8 a.m., offering service every thirty minutes. Paratransit services will also start with first pick-ups available from this time onward. The Base Express for Naval Station Norfolk and OnDemand ridesharing bookings in Newport News and Virginia Beach will begin operations simultaneously.

HRT’s Customer Service Call Center remains open between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Passengers should prepare for possible delays and sudden detours throughout Thursday.
