Register or update your registration no later than October 16
- Last day to register to vote or to update your registration (if, for example, you’ve moved or changed your name) is October 16.

Absentee Voting By Mail
Apply to vote by mail no later than October 27.
- Fill out the online application
- Apply in person at the Chesapeake Voter Registrar’s Office
- Print out the application and return it to the Chesapeake Voter Registrar’s Office.
Return your completed absentee ballot to the Chesapeake Voter Registrar’s Office by 7:00 p.m. on Election Day, November 7. If returning your completed ballot to the Chesapeake Voter Registrar by mail, it must be postmarked before or on November 7 and must be received by the Registrar no later than noon on Monday, November 13.
If you request it by mail and then change your mind, you can still vote in person during early voting or on Election Day, but you must bring your blank ballot with you. If you didn’t receive it or no longer have the blank ballot, you can still vote by completing the necessary paperwork.
Election Day Voting
Polls will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 7. You must vote at your assigned precinct on Election Day. Locate your polling place with this interactive map or by looking up your registration information at Elections.Virginia.gov. Don’t forget to bring your approved ID.
