The City of Chesapeake is actively installing water mains on Centerville Turnpike North, from Butts Station Road to Elbow Road. This project will provide the City’s water system with a transmission capacity to get water all the way from the Northwest River Water Treatment Plant up to Greenbrier and into South Norfolk.
The Centerville Water Main Project has been extended to the end of August due to the complexity surrounding navigating groundwater in the Centerville Turnpike area. The grounds, by nature, are marshy wetlands and the recent rain has added even more obstacles and excess water to work ditches.
The Public Utilities Department is dedicated to complete this project as soon as possible with attention to quality work. The City appreciates your continued patience during this important project.
