NORFOLK, VA – The City of Norfolk will hold a public meeting to discuss possibilities for the future of a 15-acre portion of the former Lambert’s Point Golf Course. This gathering will take place July 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. inside the golf course’s clubhouse at 4301 Powhatan Ave. near West 43rd Street.

The forum will include an overview and history of the site, a former solid waste landfill located along the Elizabeth River waterfront. Lambert’s Point later served as a golf course from 2005 through the end of last year. Much of the site will be used for the expansion of an adjacent HRSD Wastewater Treatment Plant and the development of groundwater recharge project, though more than 15 acres of city-owned space can be repurposed for new community amenities.

Attendees will receive updates from HRSD and the City of Norfolk’s Office of Resilience, which is working with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to develop a system to better protect the city from the effects of coastal storms. Self-guided walking tours of the site will also be available.

Advance registration for this forum is not required but is encouraged by clicking this link:  https://tinyurl.com/2s4c3h2j.

Additional information, including an online survey for residents unable to attend the public form, is available at www.norfolk.gov/lambertspointplan.
