Chesapeake Regional Medical Center Achieves Comprehensive Stroke Certification

Chesapeake Regional Medical Center, part of the Chesapeake Regional Healthcare system, has achieved Full Certification as a Comprehensive Stroke Center through the Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC).

“Chesapeake Regional has a sophisticated and comprehensive stroke program,” said John R. Baker, MD, PhD, Co-Chief and Director of Chesapeake Regional Neuroscience Institute. “Becoming a fully certified Comprehensive Stroke Center lets our community know the hospital and our clinical staff meets or exceeds national standards for treating the most complex stroke cases.”

Designation as a Comprehensive Stroke Center assures the public that Chesapeake Regional has a neuroscience ICU, experienced personnel, and expertise in treating patients with large ischemic strokes, intracerebral hemorrhage, and subarachnoid hemorrhage.

“This is tremendous news for our community,” says Reese Jackson, President & CEO of Chesapeake Regional Healthcare. “Our hospital has everything necessary to treat even the most critical stroke cases. Patients can rest assured that we are prepared with 24/7 coverage and all of the advanced technology and highly trained personnel for stroke care.”

Certification is a process through which health care organizations demonstrate compliance with national standards. Certification by ACHC reflects an organization’s dedication and commitment to meeting standards that facilitate a higher level of performance and patient care.

ACHC is a nonprofit organization that has stood as a symbol of quality and excellence since 1986.
