Due to an impending winter storm, the City of Norfolk has announced the closure of all government offices, recreation centers, and libraries on Wednesday, February 19. This includes facilities such as The Slover Library, Norfolk Animal Care Center, MacArthur Memorial, Nauticus, and others. The Virginia Zoo and Chrysler Museum will also be closed. Additionally, the Norfolk Botanical Garden will close at noon on that day.

The MacArthur Memorial's screening of "Sands of Iwo Jima" has been rescheduled for Friday, February 28.

Waste Management will maintain its regular refuse collection schedule on Wednesday, February 19. However, collections for Thursday and Friday will be adjusted to Saturday and Monday respectively. Bulk and yard waste collections are canceled for the remainder of the week and will resume next week.

Street parking in downtown areas along Boush Street, Granby Street, Main Street, and Waterside Drive will be removed starting Tuesday evening until Saturday afternoon to facilitate plowing operations. The York Street Garage and Brambleton Lot are available for downtown residents needing parking until Saturday morning.

Public Works crews have been treating key areas such as underpasses and bridges in preparation for snow accumulation. Plowing operations will commence once two inches of snow have accumulated and conditions permit safe operation. Residents are advised to avoid road travel during snowfall to allow for efficient snow removal and emergency response.
