All City of Norfolk government offices, recreation centers, and libraries will remain closed on Thursday, February 20, due to inclement weather. This closure includes facilities such as The Slover, the Norfolk Animal Care Center, MacArthur Memorial, Nauticus, and several other locations like the Virginia Zoo and Chrysler Museum.

Waste Management routes scheduled for Thursday will be collected on Saturday, February 22. Routes for Friday will be collected on Monday, February 24. All bulk and yard waste collections have been canceled for the rest of the week along with street sweeping services.

Street parking has been removed in downtown areas including Boush St., Granby St., Main St., and Waterside Dr. until Saturday at 1 p.m. to facilitate plowing operations. The York Street Garage and Brambleton Lot are available for downtown parking until Saturday morning.

Public Works crews have brined primary routes and started plowing operations while salting these routes. A total of 32 plows are currently working on primary routes before moving to secondary ones. Residents are advised to avoid driving if possible to allow crews and emergency vehicles to operate without interference.

For those who find individuals in need of shelter, they should contact the police non-emergency number at (757) 441-5610. Public Safety teams will collaborate with the Norfolk Community Services Board to provide shelter.

Additional information can be found on www.norfolk.gov or through the city's social media channels. Residents can also sign up for Norfolk Alert at www.norfolk.gov/alert for updates.
