Which Southampton County school saw the biggest in 2023-24 school year?

Southampton High School had the highest enrollment among Southampton County schools, welcoming 752 students during the 2023-24 school year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed at the time, 52.3% of them were male, and 47.7% were female.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, representing 52.9% of Southampton High School's total enrollment.

Among the six schools in Southampton County, Riverdale Elementary School ranked second in enrollment numbers with 569 students, while Southampton Middle School welcomed 532 students to be ranked third in the 2023-24 school year.

Southampton High School is part of Southampton County Public Schools District, which roughly covers schools within Southampton County, with its main office in Courtland.

In the previous school year, Southampton High School also had the highest number of students among Southampton County schools.

According to Public School Review, Virginia public schools saw an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:14 in the 2023-24 school year, which is better than the national average of 1:15 in public schools.
