The City of Chesapeake has announced that beginning the week of January 6, there will be overnight right lane closures on Great Bridge Blvd eastbound and Battlefield Blvd N southbound. These closures are scheduled to occur from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., Monday through Friday, and are expected to continue until early summer 2025, weather permitting.
In addition to the nighttime lane closures, daytime right shoulder closures will take place in the same area from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. A marked detour route for truck traffic using the Battlefield Blvd/Chesapeake 168 Expressway Interchange will be available for trucks turning right onto Battlefield Blvd N southbound from Great Bridge Blvd.
These changes are part of the ongoing Great Bridge Blvd at Battlefield Blvd Intersection Improvements Project. The city advises drivers to follow all posted signage in the area during this period.
