The City of Norfolk has initiated a significant rehabilitation project on the Shore Drive Bridge over Little Creek. Construction began on November 25 and is projected to conclude by May 2025.
This undertaking aims to implement crucial structural improvements, enhancing the long-term durability of this essential transportation route in the city. The work will involve repairing concrete spalls and delamination in the bridge's superstructure, installing an epoxy deck overlay, applying waterproof sealant to concrete elements, and updating lane striping and pavement markings.
Construction activities are scheduled for weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., with occasional weekend work if necessary. During this period, there will be single-lane and alternating lane closures, maintaining a maximum open lane width of 11 feet. Motorists should anticipate potential delays, as electronic message boards will provide updates before and throughout the project's duration.
The City of Norfolk emphasizes its commitment to minimizing disruptions during daily commutes while ensuring that the bridge rehabilitation is completed efficiently and safely.
