Congresswoman Jen Kiggans, representing Virginia’s 2nd district, recently shared a series of tweets covering topics from rural health to commemorations and celebrations. Kiggans, who replaced Elaine Luria in the U.S. Congress in 2023, has served since then after previously holding a position in the Virginia Senate from 2020 to 2022.
On November 22, 2024, Kiggans acknowledged National Rural Health Day with a focus on disparities between rural and urban healthcare access. She highlighted efforts within her district by stating: "Yesterday was National Rural Health Day. On average, rural communities have less access to healthcare than urban areas... Here in #VA02 we are fortunate to have incredible partners like Eastern Shore Rural Health that do incredible work to improve the lives and health outcomes…”
Later that day, Kiggans marked the two-year anniversary of a tragic event by expressing remembrance for those affected by it. She tweeted: "November 22, 2024 marks two years since the tragic mass shooting at the Greenbrier Walmart in Chesapeake, Virginia.… Today and every day we remember the six lives lost and those impacted by this tragedy."
On November 23, 2024, she shared her experience speaking at an event honoring military service members. In her tweet she stated: "It was an honor to speak at the First Annual Capital One Military Ball in D.C. this week…! We spent an evening celebrating those who volunteer to serve our nation in uniform. Thank you to @CapitalOne for all you do to financially assist our service members and their families!"
