On November 20, 2024, Congresswoman Kiggans announced the formal introduction of a new Navy Constellation-class frigate, the USS Congress (FFG-63). She expressed gratitude to Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro for selecting her as one of the ship's sponsors alongside Senators Joni Ernst, Tammy Baldwin, and Representative Betty McCollum. Later that day, she commented on a verdict related to Laken Riley's case. Riley was a nursing student who was killed by an illegal immigrant. Kiggans acknowledged that while nothing could bring Riley back, she appreciated the verdict and extended her prayers to Riley’s family.
