Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) has announced changes in its service schedule for the upcoming New Year's holiday. On New Year's Eve, Sunday, December 31, 2023, bus, light rail, Naval Station Norfolk Base Express, and paratransit services will operate on a Sunday schedule. The ferry will also be in operation until 2:00 AM. However, administrative facilities, transit center information booths, and the Customer Service Call Center will be closed on this day.

Similarly, on New Year's Day, Monday, January 1, 2024, HRT will continue to operate on a Sunday schedule for buses, light rail, Naval Station Norfolk Base Express, and paratransit services. The ferry, on the other hand, will operate on a regular schedule. It is important to note that administrative facilities, transit center information booths, and the Customer Service Call Center will be closed on New Year's Day.

In addition to these changes, HRT has also informed passengers that certain routes will be affected by the closure of the Huntington Ingalls Newport News Shipyard for the Christmas and New Year's holidays. Routes 403, 405, 415, 430, 966, 967, and 972 will not be in operation from Thursday, December 21, 2023, through Monday, January 1, 2024. These affected routes will resume operation on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.

For more information regarding the holiday service changes, passengers are advised to visit the official HRT website at gohrt.com or contact the Customer Service Call Center at 757-222-6100. HRT also provides support in Spanish, and for assistance in Spanish, passengers can call 757-222-6100. Additionally, TTY service is available for individuals with hearing impairments by dialing 711 and using the Virginia Relay service.

HRT would like to express its gratitude to all passengers for choosing to ride with Hampton Roads Transit.
