On December 21, 2023, the Norfolk Department of Public Health announced the holiday service schedule for various transportation services in the city. The announcement highlighted the changes in operation for bus, light rail, ferry, Naval Station Norfolk Base Express, and paratransit services during the Christmas holiday period.
According to the announcement, on Friday, December 22, all services except for the Routes 403, 405, 415, 430, 966, 967, and 972 will operate on a regular schedule. The specialized trips on Routes 414, 921, 961, and 964 will also operate, but they will not serve the Huntington Ingalls Newport News Shipyard. Administrative facilities, transit center information booths, and the Customer Service Call Center will be closed on this day.
On Saturday, December 23, all services will operate on a regular schedule, while administrative facilities, transit center information booths, and the Customer Service Call Center will remain closed.
On Christmas Eve, Sunday, December 24, bus, light rail, Naval Station Norfolk Base Express, and paratransit services will operate on a Sunday schedule. The ferry service will operate on a regular schedule. Administrative facilities, transit center information booths, and the Customer Service Call Center will be closed.
On Christmas Day, Monday, December 25, bus, light rail, Naval Station Norfolk Base Express, and paratransit services will operate on a Sunday schedule, except for the 757 Express Route 960 and the ferry, which will not operate. Administrative facilities, transit center information booths, and the Customer Service Call Center will be closed on this day as well.
The closure of the Huntington Ingalls Newport News Shipyard during the Christmas and New Year's holidays will also affect the operation of certain routes. The Routes 403, 405, 415, 430, 966, 967, and 972 will not operate from Thursday, December 21, 2023, through Monday, January 1, 2024. These routes will resume operation on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.
