Update: Temporary Road Closure of Mediterranean Avenue and 18th Street to Begin Jan. 2

Additional road closures and openings will be in place 

The temporary road closure of the intersection of Mediterranean Avenue and 18th Street set to begin Dec. 15 has been postponed and will begin Jan. 2, 2024. It will remain closed for four weeks and will reopen Feb. 2, 2024, weather permitting.

The construction at the intersection of Baltic Avenue and 18th Street is nearing completion and is on schedule to reopen Friday, Dec. 15. However, it will reclose on Monday, Dec. 18, through Friday, Dec. 22, for miscellaneous water service installation.

The intersections of 18th Street and Cypress, Mediterranean and Baltic avenues will remain open over the Christmas holiday.

Beginning Friday, Dec. 15, the intersection of Mediterranean Avenue and 18th Street will be closed to safely facilitate the street infrastructure improvements.

During this time, Mediterranean Avenue will be closed to through traffic between 19th Street and Virginia Beach Boulevard. Detours will be set to reroute traffic to adjacent streets until work is complete and will reopen immediately upon completion. Advanced warning signs are posted advising motorists of the detours and closures. Weather permitting, the intersection is scheduled to reopen Feb. 2, 2024.
