City of Norfolk Offices Closed for Observance of Independence Day

NORFOLK, VA – The City of Norfolk’s government offices, including libraries and recreation centers, will be closed on Monday, July 3, and Tuesday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. The closures include the Norfolk Courthouse, Offices of the Commissioner of the Revenue and City Treasurer. All offices and facilities will reopen with regular business hours on Wednesday, July 5.

Community Beach Park (700 E. Ocean View Ave.) lifeguards are on duty from noon to 6 p.m. on Monday, July 3, and Tuesday, July 4. Sarah Constant Beach Park (300 W. Ocean View Ave.) and Ocean View Beach Park (100 W. Ocean View Ave.) will not have beach guards on duty. Patrons swim at their own risk.

There is no change to the refuse and recycling collection schedule. Requests for bulk waste pickup for Tuesday, July 4, and Wednesday, July 5, must be received before 3 p.m. Friday, June 30. Use the My Norfolk app or MyNorfolk.org online portal to submit bulk waste pickups. Residents can also call Norfolk Cares at (757) 664-6510 or email healthyneighborhoods@norfolk.gov.

The SPSA Norfolk Transfer Station will be closed on Tuesday, July 4.

Designated street sweeping makeup days include each Monday and any weekdays that occur during the fifth week of the month. If possible, street sweeping will be made up over the two weeks that follow the normally scheduled sweeping day.
