Baseball Continues Homestand On Wednesday Against William & Mary

Old Dominion University Baseball continues its current eight-game homestand on Wednesday, March 1 as the Monarchs welcome William & Mary to Bud Metheny Ballpark for a 3 p.m. contest.

Around the Horn
Old Dominion (7-1) is coming off a three-game sweep of Fordham over the weekend. Hunter Fitz-Gerald was named Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week. Fitz-Gerald hit .444 (12-for-27) with an .889 slugging percentage and a .464 on-base percentage this past week. He homered three times, doubled three times, and added eight runs, 11 RBIs, 24 total bases and one walk to his totals.

The Monarchs are hitting .337 as a team, led by Alex Bouche's .500 batting average. Bouche is 10-for-20 on the year with three homers and is third on the team with three home runs.

Jake Ticer is batting .433 and leads the club with six homers and 14 RBIs.

Robbie O'Neal has started five games behind the plate and is hitting .421 with a pair of long balls and eight runs driven in.

Scouting William & Mary
William & Mary (5-3) is coming off of a three-game sweep of its own, as it dominated Marist winning by scores of 16-4, 10-1 and 33-5.

Ben Williamson leads the Tribe through eight games with a .455 batting average, while Lucas Carmichael is second on the team with a .450 average.

Cole Ragone leads the team with two home runs and Max Winters has a team best 10 RBIs.

The Tribe hosts George Mason this afternoon.

The Series
The two teams played last week, with ODU winning 4-3 in 10 innings. ODU trailed 3-0 before rallying behind a Camden Grimes two-run blast in the eighth and a Bouche solo shot to win it in the 10th.

ODU leads the all-time series 87-55.

What's Next
The Monarchs continue their homestand this weekend when they host St. Joseph's beginning Friday at 3 p.m.
