The City of Norfolk's Office of Resilience is set to host the next "Community Corner: A Conversation on Coastal Resilience" event. Scheduled for Thursday, February 27, from 3 to 6 p.m., the gathering will be held at the Titustown Recreation Center located at 7545 Diven Street. This event marks the second in a series designed to inform the public about Norfolk's initiatives to mitigate flooding through its $2.6 billion Resilient Norfolk Coastal Storm Risk Management (CSRM) Project.
Residents are encouraged to participate and interact with city staff from various departments. The focus will be on Norfolk’s Flood Strategy and efforts towards becoming a future-ready coastal community. The main topic of discussion for this Community Corner is Phase 3 of the CSRM project, which involves constructing a storm surge barrier stretching from Norfolk International Terminal (NIT) to Lambert’s Point area, aimed at reducing storm surge risk to the Lafayette River watershed.
Registration for attendance is requested.
These "Community Corner" events will continue throughout the year across different locations in Norfolk. Additional information on the CSRM Project can be found at resilientnorfolk.com.
Media representatives are welcome to attend. For further details, contact Megan Shearin, public information officer for the Norfolk Resilience Partners, via email at mshearin@communicateonpoint.com.
