Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) will resume operations with Snow Routes on Saturday, February 22, following a snowstorm that impacted the region. The Snow Route schedule includes hourly bus service on designated routes from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., while The Tide light rail and Elizabeth River Ferry will run every 30 minutes during the same hours.

However, HRT's paratransit service, OnDemand ridesharing, and the Base Express shuttle at Naval Station Norfolk will remain inactive due to icy conditions on secondary roads and residential streets. A return to regular service is anticipated for Sunday, pending a final decision based on weather conditions.

Pedestrian access may be limited near bus stops due to ice and snow-covered sidewalks. In contrast, light rail stations and ferry docks have been cleared and treated. Customers are advised that real-time bus arrival times will not be available via gohrt.com, third-party apps, or the Customer Service Call Center during this period. Instead, Customer Service representatives can provide estimated arrival times only.

Snow Routes will serve specific transfer locations including Newport News (NNTC), Hampton (HTC), Downtown Norfolk Transit Center (DNTC), Crawford Street, Duffy’s Lane, Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek, Liberty & Seaboard, Newtown Road, Norfolk General, Robert Hall, Shore & Pleasure House, Victory Crossing Shopping Center, and Parks & 19th.

The Northside Snow Routes include: 101, 106, 112, 114, 961, and Special Route 213 which replaces segments of Routes 102, 105 and 118. Southside Snow Routes consist of: 1, 2, 3, 6, 8 ,12 ,13 ,14 ,15 ,20 ,21 ,23 ,45 ,47 ,57 ,202 ,212 ,961 with Special Route 202 replacing segments of Route 29 and Special Route 212 replacing segments of Routes 26 ,29 and 36.

Most regular services will be suspended during the implementation of Snow Routes. Specifically excluded routes for Northside include: 102 103 104 105 107 108 109 110 111115118; for Southside: 4 5 9 11 18 22 24 25 26 27 29 33 36 41 44 50 58 960980.
