All City of Norfolk government offices, including recreation centers and libraries such as The Slover, will remain closed on Friday, February 21. This closure extends to the Norfolk Animal Care Center, MacArthur Memorial, Nauticus, the Offices of the Treasurer and Commissioner of the Revenue, the Norfolk Courthouse, Virginia Zoo, Norfolk Botanical Garden, and Chrysler Museum.
Efforts by Public Works and contractors have cleared all primary routes and made secondary routes passable. Approximately 400 tons of snow have been removed so far.
General Services and Parks & Recreation are clearing areas around SevenVenues for upcoming events. These events will proceed as planned, including Virginia Opera’s performance at Harrison Opera House and the Admirals’ game at Scope on Friday evening.
Waste Management has rescheduled its routes: collections originally set for Thursday, February 20 will occur on Saturday, February 22; those for Friday, February 21 will take place on Monday, February 24. All bulk and yard waste collections for this week have been canceled along with street sweeping.
Downtown street parking along Boush St., Granby St., Main St., and Waterside Dr. is suspended until Saturday, February 22 at 1 p.m. to facilitate plowing operations. The York Street Garage and Brambleton Lot will be accessible until 9 a.m. on Saturday for residents needing downtown parking.
Norfolk Cares will operate normally from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday. Service requests can be submitted via the MyNorfolk app or online portal at www.mynorfolk.org; emails can be sent to healthyneighborhoods@norfolk.gov or by calling (757) 664-5610.
Residents who encounter individuals in need of shelter should contact the police non-emergency number at (757) 441-5610. Public Safety crews will collaborate with Norfolk Community Services Board and partners to provide shelter.
