Congresswoman Jen Kiggans, representing Virginia’s 2nd district since 2023, shared a series of tweets on January 27 and 28, 2025. Her messages addressed various significant issues, including Holocaust remembrance, border security concerns, and recovery efforts in Southwest Virginia.
On January 27, Kiggans commemorated Holocaust Remembrance Day by honoring the memory of over six million Jewish lives lost during the Holocaust. She emphasized the importance of solidarity against such atrocities with her statement: "Today, on Holocaust Remembrance Day, we honor the memory of over 6 million Jewish lives lost in the Holocaust. After these atrocities, we stood together in solidarity and vowed NEVER AGAIN. It is now our responsibility to renew that promise and recommit ourselves to opposing…"
Later that day, Kiggans expressed concern about violence at the southern border following an incident involving cartels firing gunshots at U.S. Border Patrol agents. She highlighted this as a pressing issue under new GOP leadership: "Cartels just fired gunshots at US Border Patrol agents. This is an infuriating example of the crisis at our southern border. These drug cartels are about to quickly learn that our new GOP leadership has ZERO tolerance for these shameful acts of violence."
On January 28, Kiggans thanked Vice President Vance for his commitment to supporting Southwest Virginia's recovery from Hurricane Helene. She acknowledged his visit to Damascus as vital for ensuring necessary resources reach affected Virginians: "Thank you to @VP Vance for following through on your commitment to Southwest Virginia today. Ensuring these Virginians have access to the necessary resources to fully recover from Hurricane Helene is essential. Your visit to Damascus today means so much to all Virginians!"
