The Chesapeake Treasurer's Office has acknowledged that the e-check system used by taxpayers to make payments to the City of Chesapeake intermittently produced an error message during transaction processing or scheduling. Bank of America and their third-party vendor believe the issue has been resolved.
Taxpayers encountering continued errors have several alternative payment methods available:
- Online with a credit card
- Online through personal bank setups for online bill pay
- By mailing in payments, postmarked no later than the bill’s due date (using the “credit card bill number” for this option)
- In person at one of four Treasurer’s Office locations
- Using the 24/7 drop box located at all four Treasurer’s Office locations
For questions or concerns regarding the e-check system, taxpayers are advised to email the City Treasurer's Office for assistance from a representative.
