Road Closure to Create Traffic Detours

NORFOLK, VA – Beginning August 7 through September 15, road closures and traffic pattern changes will be in effect around Cumberland St., E. Freemason St., and entrances to the MacArthur Center Parking Garage from Cumberland St. provide heavy equipment access to make repairs to the Police and Fire Museum at 401 E. Freemason St.

The following changes in traffic patterns will be in place:

From E. Freemason St.:

  • The access road adjacent to the Police & Fire Museum at 401 E. Freemason St. will be closed.
  • The access road to parking behind residences at 415 - 445 E. Freemason St. will be changed from one-way to two-way. Residents will exit rear parking spaces via a left turn on Cumberland St. to E. Freemason St. 
  • Southbound Cumberland St. at E. Freemason St. will be closed to all except residents (this entry to MacArthur Garage will be closed).
From westbound Market St./Cumberland St.:

  • MacArthur Garage entrance on right (leading to lower level of garage) will be closed. Other garage parking gates at Cumberland St. will remain open.
  • Vehicles exiting the Rotunda parking lot and vehicles not entering the garage will continue to bear right on Cumberland St. north to E. Freemason St.
