Beginning Monday, July 10, a Norfolk Naval Shipyard Gas Line installation project will require lane closures on S. Military Hwy between Canal Drive and the Gilmerton Bridge. The 24-hour single lane closures will begin in the eastbound lanes and then move to the westbound lanes. There will also be a point in the project where all traffic is moved onto the eastbound side of S. Military Hwy. At least a single lane of traffic in both directions will be maintained throughout. The project is expected to last through mid-August, weather permitting. Motorists should exercise extreme caution in the work zone, and should follow posted reduced speed limit signage and traffic control devices. Updates to the work schedule/progress will be provided throughout the duration of the project.
