Five Points Resurfacing Project

17

City of Norfolk issued the following announcement on Nov. 8

Resurfacing on Chesapeake Boulevard, at the Five Points intersection, is postponed to accommodate essential water and sanitary system upgrades. These upgrades will begin this week and are scheduled for completion January 2022. The Department of Utilities contractor will work 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. with some nights and weekends. Once Utilities completes the improvements, the Department of Public Works will coordinate with the contractor to begin paving, weather permitting.

The inclusion of essential water and sanitary sewer system upgrades is the result of internal controls and interdepartmental coordination successfully implemented within the past few years to prevent cutting newly paved roads while saving millions in taxpayer dollars.

The Department of Utilities will coordinate follow-up communications to residents, businesses and stakeholders regarding the specific construction and traffic impacts for the utility upgrades.
