City of Virginia Beach issued the following announcement on Aug. 6
An arrest has been made after a suspect barricaded himself in a residence after assaulting two victims.
On August 6, 2021 at 2:16 a.m. VBPD were called to the 900 block of Virginia Beach Blvd. for reports that a man was threatening to shoot the victims, as well as police if they were called. After police arrived on scene, two adult victims exited the house, both had been assaulted by the suspect. The suspect refused to follow officers' commands and barricaded himself in the residence. VBPD S.W.A.T. was called out to continue negotiations with the suspect while arrest warrants were being obtained.
At 7:30 a.m. the suspect exited the home and was taken into custody without further incident. 38-year-old Dennis Matthew White, of Virginia Beach, was arrested and charged with two counts of abduction and two counts of assault. He is being held in the Virginia Beach City Jail on a no bond status.
Both victims were uninjured.
