CITY OF VIRGINIA BEACH: Local Emmy-Winning Cold Case Docuseries Debuts Second Story

City of Virginia Beach issued the following announcement on July 15

In 2010, a beloved grandfather was tragically murdered by intruders as his sons were napping upstairs. You might hold the key to helping Willie Chapel Sr.'s family find justice. Find out by watching Episode 2 of the Virginia Beach Cold Case Files.

"Our department has one of the highest clearance rates in the country because we keep working cases until there is a resolution," said Lt. Rachel Wigand with the Virginia Beach Police Department's Investigative Division. "In Mr. Chapel's case, we're making a broad appeal for more information because we don't yet have all of the evidence, we need to get a conviction."

VBPD launched the Virginia Beach Cold Case Files show as a way to generate fresh leads to help solve perplexing disappearances, tragic murders and unsolved crimes from their cold case files. If you have any information pertaining to the Chapel case, contact the Hampton Roads Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or the Virginia Beach Police Detectives Bureau at 757-385-4101. Actionable information is eligible for an award up to $1,000.
