CITY OF CHESAPEAKE: Memorial Day Holiday Closures & Information

City of Chesapeake issued the following announcement on May 24

In observance of the upcoming Memorial Day holiday, all City offices, courts, community centers, and the Visitor Center/Parks, Recreation and Tourism Administrative Office will be CLOSED on Monday, May 31.

The Chesapeake Visitor Center and Parks, Recreation and Tourism Administrative Office will be open from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.  All Chesapeake Public Libraries will be CLOSED on Sunday, May 30, and Monday, May 31.

There will be no changes to the trash or recycling collection schedules.

The Chesapeake Mayor’s Commission on Veterans’ Affairs will hold a wreath laying ceremony at 11 a.m., Monday, May 31, at the Chesapeake Veterans Memorial in front of City Hall – 306 Cedar Road. The ceremony will be open to the public and aired live on Chesapeake Television (Cox 48, Verizon 43, and streaming online), the City’s Facebook page.

Normal operating schedules will resume on Tuesday, June 1. Residents who need more information should call the Customer Contact Center at 382-CITY between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays.
