Cost of college went up for all students at Old Dominion University

In-state tuition and fees rose 5.1 percent for 2018-19 at Old Dominion University, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Virginia residents paid $10,560 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $510 more than the $10,050 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 179 percent more than residents this year, or $29,460. Their price tag grew 5.6 percent from $27,900 in 2017-18.

About 88 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Virginia residents. About 9 percent are residents of other states and 1 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 93 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 2,707 students received grants or scholarships totaling $20.8 million and 1,899 students took out student loans totaling more than $13.8 million.

Including all undergraduates (24,176), 11,585 students used grants or scholarships totaling $86.8 million, and 10,972 students took out $78.8 million in federal student loans.
