Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) has announced changes to its schedules for the upcoming holiday season. On November 27, all HRT services including bus, light rail, ferry, Base Express, paratransit, and OnDemand ridesharing will operate as usual. However, the Downtown Norfolk Transit Center information booth will close early at 4:30 p.m., while other transit center booths will maintain normal hours. The Customer Service call center will be open from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m.
On Thanksgiving Day, November 28, most bus routes will follow a regular Sunday schedule with some modifications leading to earlier service end times. The Tide light rail and other services like Base Express and paratransit will also run on a Sunday schedule, but the ferry service will not be available. All transit center information booths and the Customer Service call center will remain closed.
The day after Thanksgiving, November 29, sees buses and light rail operating on a Saturday schedule while the ferry runs as usual. Both transit center information booths and the Customer Service call center will be closed.
For Christmas Eve on December 24, all services are scheduled regularly except for Routes 403, 405, 415, 430, 966, 967 and 972 which won't operate. Specialized trips such as Routes 414 and others will continue but won't serve Huntington Ingalls Newport News Shipyard. Information booths and the call center will be closed.
Christmas Day operations on December 25 mirror those of Thanksgiving with most bus routes following a regular Sunday schedule or modified versions ending earlier. The ferry service is suspended for the day with all customer service points remaining closed.
From December 23 through January 1 next year due to Huntington Ingalls Newport News Shipyard's closure for holidays, specific bus routes including Routes 403 through 972 won't run until January 2 when they resume normal operations.
On New Year's Eve December 31st buses along with other services like light rail operate normally while ferries extend their hours till two in morning; however Downtown Norfolk’s booth closes early at half-past four afternoon whereas others stick routine timings alongside five-to-five operational window customer support line offers assistance throughout daylong period too before shutting down
