183 7th-grade students enrolled in Southampton County schools in 2023-24 school year

There were 183 7th-grade students enrolled in Southampton County schools in the 2023-24 school year, 4.7% fewer than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

Southampton Middle School was the only school that welcomed 7th-grade students in the county.

Within Southampton County schools, the largest number of students were found in 10th-grade, while pre-kindergarten had the least students.

Statewide, Southampton County ranked 85th in enrollment numbers. It was ranked 84th the year before.

As of November 2023, according to Public Schools Review, Virginia public schools saw an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:14, which is better than the national average of 1:15 in public schools nationwide.
