Chesapeake is conducting a Community Needs Survey to determine how and where federal grant funds should be used over the next five years. This particular funding comes from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and in order to receive the money, the City has to provide HUD with our plan of action for how we will use the money. To create that plan of action, we need your input on where you see the greatest need here in Chesapeake.
This funding can go towards a variety of needs such as housing, childcare, infrastructure, and public facilities. In the past, funding has gone towards rental assistance and homeless prevention programs, youth development programming and childcare assistance, and it has helped with the construction of affordable housing.
We have had a lot of public input opportunities recently, but please do not let this one pass you by! This funding can make a huge difference in the lives of so many in our community, which in turn helps all of Chesapeake. You can find the survey at www.CityOfChesapeake.net/Community-Development or you can call 757-382-6176 to submit your thoughts.
