The Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) announced the College Division Women's Outdoor Track & Field teams which saw two Marlins represent Virginia Wesleyan on the All-State teams. Jaylyn Lane earned a spot on the All-State first-team in jumps, while Mariama Diallo garnered second-team accolades in throws.
Jaylyn Lane garnered ODAC Outdoor Field Athlete of the Meet accolades for the first time in her career after winning the women's long jump and her second consecutive triple jump crown winning the event in 2021 also. In the long jump, Lane jumped a distance of 5.74M, setting a new personal best and school record mark, to claim first in the event. She followed with a first place finish in the women's triple jump event jumping 11.77M. Lane received ODAC First-Team All-Conference honors for her two first place finishes.
Mariama Diallo won the women's discus throw with a mark of 37.18M to garner ODAC All-Conference first-team accolades. While not her personal record of 39.42M, set earlier in the season at the Betty S. Rogers Invitational, the mark of 37.18M is her second best throw in her career. The individual title was the first in Diallo's career and is her first ODAC All-Conference honors as well.
VaSID names 44 all-state teams in 23 sports each year, as well as an Academic All-State squad and an all-sports champion in both the University and College Divisions. Membership in VaSID is open to all media relations professionals working at a university or conference in the state of Virginia.
