70 percent of applicants to Virginia Wesleyan University were admitted for fall 2018

At Virginia Wesleyan University, 90 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 59 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year private not-for-profit institution in Virginia Beach enrolled 1,437 students in fall 2018, including 1,351 in undergraduate and 86 in graduate programs, data shows. 7.2 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

75 percent of undergraduates are residents of Virginia, and 25 percent are residents of other states.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (53 percent) and Black or African American (25 percent).

The school admitted 70 percent of the 2,656 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 19 percent enrolled.
