The City of Virginia Beach is dealing with an intermittent phone outage that is affecting most city buildings, including the main information line. City staff are working to resolve the issue.
At a statewide conference for Virginia prosecutors on August 2, 2025, Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney Tabitha Anderson received the 2025 Michael R. Doucette Lecturer of Merit Award from the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Services Council (CASC). The award is named after Michael R. Doucette, a former Commonwealth’s Attorney for Lynchburg who now serves as a Circuit Court judge. It recognizes individuals for dedicated leadership and commitment to training fellow prosecutors.
Anderson has worked in the criminal justice system for 25 years as both a prosecutor and public defender. She currently supervises the First Precinct Prosecution Team in Virginia Beach. Anderson holds both a Juris Doctor and a Doctor of Strategic Leadership from Regent University and has provided training for prosecutors, law enforcement officers, law schools, and colleges.
In 2023, she was given the Joseph L. Lyle, Jr. Professionalism Award by the Virginia Beach Bar Association. Anderson developed a leadership training program for supervising prosecutors in Virginia that she leads annually and has taught at the National District Attorneys’ Association Leadership Academy. She also serves on CASC faculty for trial advocacy programs and helps facilitate leadership tracks at conferences while working on wellness initiatives within CASC.
“With her dedication and experience, Tabitha is an asset both to the Virginia Beach Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office and to prosecutors throughout Virginia,” said Commonwealth’s Attorney Colin Stolle. “I appreciate her willingness to travel and train prosecutors throughout the state, so that we can ensure Virginia’s prosecutors have the tools they need to keep their communities safe.”
