VBSchools launches student video series and calls for greater community involvement

Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBSchools) announced several community engagement initiatives in early April 2026 through its official social media channels.

On April 2, VBSchools introduced a new video series aimed at highlighting student perspectives. The school district stated, “We’re #VBCPSProud to launch ‘In Their Words.’  In this video series, we pop up at our schools to get students’ honest thoughts on community, school life, and more. Hear @KHS_Chiefs students share who they’d thank in a five-second video. Follow along for more soon!  https://t.co/l091gGdbbR”.

The following day, the district reminded stakeholders about an opportunity to participate in shaping local education policy. On April 3, VBSchools posted, “Final day to apply! VBCPS School Board is seeking parents, staff, and community members to serve on various Community Advisory Committees. If you are interested in making a difference and sharing your voice, submit an application and letter of interest to the Clerk of the https://t.co/dUVWJLYXPH”.

Also on April 3, VBSchools promoted an initiative involving its Mobile Resource Truck known as The Beacon. The district wrote, “Help us give The Beacon, our Mobile Resource Truck, a face to match its mission! The Office of Family and Community Engagement (@VBFACE1) invites students, staff, and the community to vote for The Beacon’s official mascot. Cast your vote NOW, voting ends TODAY, April 3, at 5P: https://t.co/a10BakZRDO”.

Virginia Beach City Public Schools is one of the largest school divisions in Virginia and regularly seeks input from families and community members regarding educational programming and resources.
