Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBSchools) highlighted several community engagement initiatives in a series of posts published between March 24 and March 25, 2026.
On March 24, VBSchools shared news about a recent donation at Alanton Elementary School: ” Alanton ES students celebrated new soccer goals donated by For the Players Foundation. Two students took the first shots, then everyone got a turn with ODU goalkeepers in the net!
The goals will be used in PE classes, during recess, and for a new soccer club.

The following day, VBSchools invited families and community members to participate in an online event: “Join us tonight, Wednesday, March 25, at 6 p.m. https://t.co/z4sZAIPOjl” This post encouraged engagement through a virtual meeting scheduled for that evening.
Later on March 25, VBSchools announced an initiative to involve the community in choosing a mascot for The Beacon mobile resource truck: “Help us give The Beacon, our Mobile Resource Truck, a face to match its mission!
The Office of Family and Community Engagement (@VBFACE1) invites students, staff, and the community to vote for The Beacon’s official mascot.
Cast your vote now through April 3: https://t.co/PccnwxJtvH” The effort seeks input from students, staff members and local residents to strengthen connections around this outreach program.
Virginia Beach City Public Schools is one of Virginia’s largest school divisions and regularly collaborates with organizations such as For the Players Foundation to enhance student experiences. Programs like The Beacon are part of ongoing efforts by VBSchools’ Office of Family and Community Engagement to provide resources directly to families across the district.
