VBSchools announces spring schedule changes and highlights digital literacy efforts

Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) issued several updates for families and students on April 2, 2026. The school district announced schedule changes and highlighted its participation in a recent panel discussion about artificial intelligence in media.

In a post dated April 2, 2026, VBCPS stated: ” Update for VBCPS families: Schools will be closed on Tuesday, April 21, due to the special election. To meet the required instructional time, the school day will be extended by 10 minutes from April 13 through June 8. Dismissal times during this period can be found at https://t.co/iEPP8gBrgo”.

Another update posted on the same day reminded families of upcoming days off: “#VBCPSFriendlyReminder: Schools are closed for students on April 3 for a staff day and April 6-10 for Spring Break. Enjoy the time off! We’ll see students back in class on Monday, April 13, ready to finish the school year strong! https://t.co/PfU0TGKKYN”.

Additionally, VBCPS shared information about its Chief Communications and Community Engagement Officer’s involvement in an educational panel. On April 2, they posted: “Recently, our Chief Communications and Community Engagement Officer,@LivasNicole, represented VBCPS on a panel about AI in media, highlighting the importance of digital literacy.
