Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) announced a series of updates for students and families through its official Twitter account. The posts addressed upcoming schedule changes, student activities at a local academy, and promoted an event for the school community.

On April 9, 2026, VBCPS notified families that schools would be closed on April 21 due to a special election. The district stated, “VBCPS families: Schools will be closed on Tuesday, April 21, due to the special election. To meet the required instructional time, the school day will be extended by 10 minutes from April 13 through June 8. Dismissal times during this period can be found at https://t.co/pHqtydbf6E”.

Later that same day, VBCPS shared an update highlighting student engagement at Lynnhaven’s An Achievable Dream Academy. According to the tweet posted on April 9, “Students at Lynnhaven’s An Achievable Dream Academy are learning responsibility and teamwork by caring for Sir Fitzgerald, a Holland Lop rabbit from Bergey’s Farm in Chesapeake. Students are even preparing to take Sir Fitzgerald to a competitive show.”

The following day, VBCPS encouraged community participation in an event with a brief message: “We can’t wait to see you there! You can learn more at https://t.co/ZsvOx5EfuE https://t.co/Lk1yzKKzww” (April 10).
