Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBSchools) announced the start of their open house events and preparations for the new academic year in a series of posts on August 21, 2025. The posts detailed ongoing activities and upcoming initiatives as the district readies for classes to begin on August 25.

In an early post on August 21, VBSchools stated, “We kicked off open houses today, and excitement is in the air! More open houses are happening tomorrow and will continue through September. Check with your child’s school for dates and times. We can’t wait for an amazing year starting Aug 25th! #VBCPSBackToSchool”.

Later that day, VBSchools highlighted safety improvements on their school buses by referencing Nicole’s EdVentures: “New on Nicole’s EdVentures: See how @BusPatrol_ + the Zūm App are making VBCPS’ bus rides safer and more transparent. Watch here: https://t.co/YCqt9YVwEW #NicolesEdventures #WeAreVBSchools #SchoolBusSafety”.

A subsequent post reiterated the upcoming start date for students and emphasized the district’s focus on student-centered learning: ” School starts August 25! VBCPS is charting a course for the future—putting students 1st & ensuring they have the tools to learn today & lead tomorrow. Let’s make it an unforgettable year! #WeAreVBCPS #VBCPSBackToSchool #VBCPSCompassTo2030 #LearningTodayLeadingTomorrowVBCPS”.

Virginia Beach City Public Schools is one of Virginia’s largest school districts, serving more than 65,000 students across numerous elementary, middle, and high schools. The district regularly uses social media to inform families about important dates, programs, and safety initiatives throughout the academic year.
