Graduating high school seniors or college undergraduates in Virginia Beach who are studying agriculture, natural resource conservation or environmental protection are eligible for the $2,000 award.
The Virginia Beach Department of Agriculture is now accepting applications for the Bartley E. Tuthill Memorial Scholarship Program. The purpose of the scholarship is to help support the education of a graduating high school senior or college undergraduate who is a resident of Virginia Beach and is interested in or studying technical fields associated with agriculture, natural resource conservation, or environmental protection.
Individual applicants for the $2,000 award must be full-time students who are enrolled in or have applied to a college undergraduate-level curriculum.
Completed application forms must also contain the following attachments:
1. The applicant’s most recent official high school or college transcript listing their anticipated major (transcript should also contain the applicant’s student number)
a. A photocopy of a school transcript will not be accepted
a. Incomplete applications will not be accepted
2. Three letters of reference
3. Essay of approximately 250 words
Previous recipients of the scholarship are eligible to reapply for scholarship consideration in the ensuing years.
