Women's Swimming breaks 3 records on first night of Yellow Jacket Invite

Virginia Wesleyan College Athletics issued the following announcement on Dec. 3

The women's swim team broke 3 school records on the first night of the Yellow Jacket Invitational.  They are currently sitting in 7th place.

COMPLETE MEET RESULTS

INSIDE THE RESULTS:

- The 200 yard Freestyle Relay of first-years Audrey Roberts and Gaby Alvizo, junior Chloe Dewberry, and first-year Lauren Hendricks lowered the school record by over 3 seconds with a 1:43.30 to finish in 6th place.

- Senior Dana Smith bested her own school record in the 200 yard IM by almost 2 seconds, going 2:19.42 and finishing in 17th place.

- The 400 yard Medley Relay of Dewberry, Smith, Alvizo, and Hendricks dropped over 1 second off the school record with a time of 4:20.11 and a 12th place finish.

Additional noteworthy performances:

200 yard Freestyle Relay:

- Sophomore Emily Lewis, junior Jaelyn Sapp, first-year Sarah Verbeck, and Smith - 1:53.35 (16th)

500 yard Freestyle:

- Hendricks - 5:40.29 (27th)

- Lewis - 6:19.52 (44th)

- sophomore Colette Kearney - 6:38.05 (46th)

- junior Kara Young - 7:00.50 (48th)

200 yard IM:

- sophomore Britni Arrington - 2:54.60 (43rd)

50 yard Freestyle:

- Hendricks - 25.97 (exh)

- Roberts - 26.38 (22nd)

- Alvizo - 26.39 (23rd)

- Smith - 26.63 (exh)

- Dewberry - 26.72 (27th)

- Sapp - 28.21 (exh)

- Young - 30.18 (exh)

- Verbeck - 30.71 (49th)

- sophomore Ariana Fletter - 32.91 (51st)

- first-year Kai Jenkins - 33.63 (53rd)

- sophomore Hannah Carmona - 33.68 (54th)

- sophomore Makenna Good - 34.48 (55th)
