Norfolk Public Schools recently shared updates on their activities and initiatives through a series of tweets. The posts covered the conclusion of a school attendance challenge, discussions in the Teacher Forum, and appreciation efforts for teachers at Sewells Point Elementary School.
On May 5, Norfolk Public Schools announced the completion of the 2024-25 School-to-School Attendance Challenge. The event concluded with Bay View Elementary School hosting a parade and flag handoff to Dr. Byrdsong, accompanied by members of Norfolk Police Department and Norfolk Fire Rescue. The tweet stated, ” That’s a wrap on the 2024-25 School-to-School Attendance Challenge! #BayViewES brought the energy as our final stop-complete w/a parade & a flag handoff to Dr. Byrdsong, joined by @NorfolkPD & @norfolkfireresc. All NPS schools have now competed-next up: Data this fall “.
The following day, on May 6, another tweet highlighted the final meeting of Norfolk Public Schools’ Teacher Forum for the year. The discussions centered around several key issues including the academic calendar, professional development (PD), human resource needs, student discipline, and technology use within schools. Later that day on May 6th, Sewells Point Elementary School’s efforts to celebrate teachers before National Teacher Appreciation Week were highlighted in another tweet. It described how both staff and parents collaborated to organize daily gestures of appreciation with an engaging 1980s theme throughout the previous week.
