The Norfolk Department of Health is inviting local families to a Back-to-School Community Day. The event will be held on Thursday, July 24, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at 830 Southampton Avenue in Norfolk, Virginia.
This community day aims to support families as they prepare for the upcoming school year. It offers required school immunizations, sports and school entrance physicals, and various vendors and activities.
Attendees can expect free school immunizations for those who qualify. Participants should bring a valid ID, shot records, and insurance information if available. Free sports and school entrance physicals will be provided by Sentara healthcare professionals.
The event will also feature a health fair-style setting with community resources and vendors. There will be a gaming bus courtesy of the Norfolk Police Department along with fun activities and giveaways.
Services are specifically geared toward students entering Pre-K, Kindergarten, 7th grade, and 12th grade.
Partner organizations include Sentara Health, Norfolk Public Schools, Old Dominion University, YMCA of South Hampton Roads, Norfolk Police Department, Norfolk Family Justice Center, the Virginia Zoo, Chartway Credit Union, Nauticus, REACH Inc., YWCA South Hampton Roads, Norfolk Community Emergency Response Team among others committed to student wellness.
