The Norfolk Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office has announced the appointment of two of its assistant attorneys to notable leadership roles within Virginia’s legal community. Caswell W. Richardson and Alexander Rosenberg have been recognized for their contributions and dedication to the field.
On May 15, Caswell W. Richardson began a three-year term as a member of the Virginia State Bar’s Standing Committee on Lawyer Discipline (COLD). This committee, composed of 14 members including attorneys and laypersons, is responsible for overseeing the investigation and prosecution of attorney complaints submitted to the VSB. Richardson also serves as one of Norfolk’s representatives on the Virginia State Bar Council.
Simultaneously, Alexander Rosenberg was sworn in as Chair of the Young Lawyers Section of the Norfolk & Portsmouth Bar Association (NPBA). The NPBA provides mentorship and networking opportunities for lawyers in Norfolk and Portsmouth. Prior to this role, Rosenberg served as Treasurer for the section.
Richardson joined the Norfolk Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office in February 2022 after a diverse career that included roles as a public defender, civil lawyer, and Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney in Portsmouth. He currently works on the First Precinct Team and handles insurance fraud cases statewide.
Rosenberg also became part of the office in February 2022 following his practice in insurance defense and criminal defense law. He now serves on the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Team after initially working with general prosecution duties.
Both attorneys have strong academic backgrounds; Richardson graduated from James Madison University and George Mason University School of Law, while Rosenberg is an alumnus of the University of Richmond and Pennsylvania State University’s Dickinson School of Law.
Commonwealth’s Attorney Ramin Fatehi praised both individuals for their commitment to justice: “Congratulations to Cas and Alex… In a world where we are constantly overworked, Cas and Alex have made the time to become leaders in the legal profession.”
Richardson and Rosenberg continue to exemplify servant leadership through their roles both within their office and throughout Norfolk’s legal community.
