Congresswoman Jen Kiggans, who represents Virginia’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, has recently posted a series of statements on her official X account addressing military pay, support for public naval shipyard workers, and a recent international peace deal.

On October 8, 2025, Kiggans emphasized the importance of ensuring timely compensation for military personnel, stating, “The President has made it clear: we must pay our troops. I’m urging the Speaker and our House leadership to immediately pass my bill to ensure our servicemembers, many of whom live paycheck to paycheck while supporting their families, receive the pay they’ve earned. Military pay”.

Later that day, she highlighted her bipartisan legislative efforts to support naval shipyard workers: “Our public naval shipyard workers deserve the certainty of a paycheck for the critical work they perform, regardless of political gridlock in Washington. That’s why I was proud to introduce the bipartisan Pay Our Public Shipyard Workers Act with @RepGoodlander and @RepChrisPappas”.

On October 9, 2025, Kiggans commented on an international peace agreement brokered by former President Trump: “This is what peace through strength looks like! I am so grateful President Trump secured this historic peace deal so that after two years of torture, these hostages will be reunited with their families. I am hopeful that this deal will bring stability and peace to the Middle”.

Kiggans has served in Congress since 2023 after replacing Elaine Luria and previously served in the Virginia Senate from 2020 to 2022. She was born in Tampa, Florida in 1971 and currently resides in Virginia Beach. In addition to her legislative career, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Old Dominion University in 2011.
